Team

Our international team combines more than 20 years of experience in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy – based on over 300 projects carried out worldwide. In fact, it was the experiences our founders had in the course of their professional and private careers that resulted in the establishment of enPower.life.

Thomas Frank, CEO

Thomas Frank is the CEO of enPower.life. For more than 30 years he has been working in the field of innovative energy generation and energy efficiency. After gaining initial professional experience at the Swedish energy company Sydkraft AB, he founded his first company in 1997: a competence center for energy efficiency for the E.ON Group, one of the largest energy companies in Europe. In 2001 Thomas founded his second company, Envidatec GmbH. The revolutionary open-source software JEVIS which enables customers to monitor their energy flows was also initiated at Envidatec. Further Envidatec branches were added over time: Omtec Energiemanagement GmbH in Vienna (2007) as well as Envidatec Ost in Russia (2010) and Envidatec South East Adia PTE in Singapore. After years of experience in this area, Thomas wanted to take the next step and counter climate change even more actively. This is how enPower.life was born. The startup from Hamburg wants to meet the special requirements of energy supply in emerging countries and actively pursue the sustainability goals of the UN. The young enPower.life benefits from his experience and extensive knowledge.

I grew up in an emerging market, and after initially working in developed countries, I devoted almost half of my professional life to consulting in emerging markets. But although we have always been able to offer the best energy efficiency measures and renewable energy solutions, we repeatedly encountered the same problem: there was a lack of money. With enPower.life we have created a platform that closes this funding gap.

Behzad Aghababazadeh looks back at more than 10 years of professional experience in the fields of energy efficiency and sustainable energy. He has been running his own consulting company in Iran very successfully for many years and has also worked in the field of energy consulting in the USA. Eventually, he wanted to turn his consulting knowledge into hands-on, direct impact; wanted people to directly benefit from his work. Therefore, he co-founded enPower.life together with Thomas. Behzad takes care of the technical and economic planning and implementation of the projects as well as the development of the associated financial mechanisms at enPower.life.

I find it incredibly frustrating that really great technologies exist, but the implementation of sustainable projects fails due to a lack of financial resources. This enhances pre-existing injustices even further: the nations that are particularly affected by climate change often lack the means to protect themselves. On the other hand, there are hardly any sustainable investment opportunities available for investors. enPower.life has developed a great alternative here.

Malin Frank graduated from the University of Bremen with a bachelor’s degree in geosciences and then deepened her knowledge in climate sciences: at the University of Hamburg she completed her master’s degree in Integrated Climate System Sciences. She then gained hands-on experience in the UK film and television industry. Malin cuts videos and creates blog posts for enPower.life.
